Great Britain native Marion Posner appears at the Corner House Inn’s Storytelling Dinner Program on Thursday evening, May 3rd.
On her May 3rd visit, Marion will tell a story with a distinctly New Hampshire flavor, based on summers she spent as a child with her gem of a grandmother in Tamworth.Come swim with Marion's story in leech infested ponds, dine on her intrepid great grandmother's recipe of marinated woodchuck, and enjoy other, uniquely NH, experiences!

On Thursday evening, May 10th, Irish storyteller Lynne Cullen weaves tales from the “old country” at the Corner House’s Storytelling Dinner program. For her fourth appearance at the Corner House Inn, Lynne and her concertina will bring you a collection of fractured, frightening, funny folktales, fables and whoppers, featuring plucky women, clever animals, and beings who are a bit of both!
Storytelling Dinners are held every Thursday evening at the Corner House Inn in Center Sandwich from late October through the month of May. The Dinner begins at 6:30 pm, and the cost is $19.95 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Meet at the Science Center to travel together by van to the North Country for an evening of moose and black bear watching. First, we will visit a special place where mother black bears graze on a salad of flowers and berries while their cubs frolic nearby. As dusk approaches, we'll visit a moose 'hot spot' in search of a sighting of these giants feeding on roadside mud.

Prize-winning local author, teacher, storyteller, and folklorist Bonnie Marshall will appear at the Corner House Inn’s torytelling Dinner Program on May 24th.
Many of the stories about mischievous or evil spirits contained in The Snow Maiden were suppressed and officially ignored by the Soviets. Previously, Bonnie had authored a translation of South Slavic folktales entitled Tales from the Heart of the Balkans. Any of the stories in her books or new stories that she is working on for her next book is likely to appear in the program. New Hampshire folktales are in her repertoire, too.

The Squam Lakes Association is starting off its busy summer season with the Annual Pancake Breakfast, on Saturday, May 26 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the SLA’s Resource Center in Holderness.The Pancake Breakfast is a great time to catch up with old friends and make some new ones over organic pancakes topped with maple syrup from Squam’s Burleigh Farm, fair trade coffee, fresh fruit and bacon.The $10 tickets for the breakfast are available at the door.
