Squam Lake Recreation Off the Water
If you prefer to have your feet planted solidly on the ground, explore the world of the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center and several nature preserves in the watershed, hike our miles of trails, or visit our locally owned shops and galleries featuring antiques, artisians’ wares and local specialties.
Adventurous souls can bicycle on our back roads or mountain bike through our Squam Range. And for those who prefer living closer to the edge, there are zip line adventures and world class rock climbing sites nearby.
Squam Lake Recreation in Winter
The fun doesn’t stop when the leaves drop and the snow flies. The Squam Lakes area is filled with many skiing & winter recreation opportunities. You’ll want to take advantage of our snow covered trails and our frozen lakes to cross country ski and snowshoe. Bore a hole in the ice and try your luck at ice fishing. Or visit one of the many downhill ski areas close by. If you own a snowmobile, spend a day on our local trails or connect into the state’s trail system that will take you to Canada and back.
